This "Patu" is a scaled-down version of a traditional short club, a hand-to-hand weapon used in combat by the indigenous Maori people of Aotearoa, New Zealand. The Patu was an important cultural symbol for the Maori and was used both in battles and in ceremonial displays of strength and skill. Today, the Patu continues to be valued and honored, often being used in ceremonial events and gifted during special occasions.

The engraved puhoro style kowhaiwhai design adds a unique contemporary touch to one side of the piece. In contrast, the other side allows for the natural beauty of the native timber to be appreciated, resulting in something that feels modern yet deeply rooted in tradition, exuding authenticity and cultural significance.

Proudly made in Aotearoa, NZ.
